About The Presentation

Genuine Parts Company (GPC) Is the global leader in the commercial and automotive aftermarket. With more than 6000 stores and over 60 distribution centers in North America alone, the operational health of their IT systems is paramount. Dan will share his journey from typical siloed operations and application development that generated more than fifteen thousand alert emails per month. Then, how GPC used OBM to pull a conglomerate of monitoring tools and data together into a single view while focusing on creating a culture change of partnership, and collaboration. Additionally, he will discuss how the unforeseen pandemic propelled GPC’s tools into the forefront aiding in rapid digital transformation. Finally, how GPC is maturing today with ChatOps and automated INC response and avoidance.

About The Presenter

Dan joined the Napa division of Genuine Parts Company in the fall of 2018 after 10 years with Macy’s deploying large scale application and IT infrastructure projects. He spent the later 8 years as an award-winning leader and architect of the Enterprise Monitoring Center of Excellence at Macy’s.

At GPC Dan helped transform IT operations from a culture of reactionary instability to one that is proactive and predictive where stability is a daily mindset. The teams he leads deliver innovative solutions for ITSM, Cyber Security and IT Operations. His Enterprise Monitoring team has delivered a holistic single pain operational intelligence dashboard (1View) in a record-breaking 14 months.

Dan has a diverse IT background that includes, IT management, infrastructure engineering, application development, IT operations, merger and acquisitions experience as well as help desk experience. 

On a personal front, Dan has 3 grown children, 2 sons, and 1 daughter.  He and his wife currently live in the Atlanta metro area and are active outdoor backpackers/hikers who enjoy spending time in our National and State Parks. They love Latin ballroom dancing, travel, enjoy motorsports and biking.
