Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU or
Southern Polytechnic), located in
Mariettain the Metro Atlanta area, is a place where students are educated for life and for
leadership in an increasingly technological world. Freshmen at
the university have an average SAT score that is the third highest within the state
university system in Georgia
. The
School of Computing and Software Engineering
has two departments. The
Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers BS and BA
degrees in Computer Science, a BS in Software Engineering, an MS in Computer Science,
an MS in Software Engineering, and several credit-based undergraduate and graduate
certificate programs.
The department has been using state of the art technologies, such as SMART
Boards, Blackboard Vista, Wimba Live Classroom,
podcasting, etc., and only after careful consideration,
embarked on delivering selected programs online. Two credit-based
certificate programs - the Graduate Transition Certificate in Computer Science (GTCCS)
and the Graduate Certificate in Software Engineering (GCSWE) - are offered fully
online. Other programs are in consideration for online offering.
All these programs are available in regular, face-to-face format, as well.
The Department of Information Technology
offers a BS in Information Technology, a BAS in Information Technology, an MS in
Information Technology, and several credit-based undergraduate and graduate certificate
programs. The department participates in the
WebBSIT consortium, which offers a web-based BSIT program.
In addition the MS program in Information Technology is in development for a full
online offering. |
