Information For Potential Speakers
We are always looking for interesting presentations to deliver to our members. If you would like to deliver your presentation to SPIN members. You may download our Presentation Guidelines, or you can read the following summary.

What the SPIN board needs from you before we schedule you to deliver the presentation:
  1. A paragraph describing your experience in a field.
  2. Abstract of your presentation.
  3. A list of other presentations that you have done before.
  4. Preferred month to give your presentation.

Submit your presentation proposal via email to speakers@atlantaspin.org. The SPIN board would then evaluate your submission along with others that have been submitted and decide on its acceptance. Each of our speakers receives framed thank you certificate after delivery of their speech.

The following information might help you prepare the presentation.

We usually get around 30 to 50 people, but we started to do better announcements, and expect to have larger turnouts.

Our members frequently have diverse backgrounds. We have some members from Level 4/5 CMMI companies, and some that are new to software processes. Most of them attend our meetings or review past presentations to learn of processes that they can apply in their organizations.  We archive presentation slides on our website so visitors to our website can review past presentations.

Most of our members are looking for practical things that they can try in their organizations. They are interested in activities that do work and some examples of activities that don't. They want to be more competitive and knowledgeable after your presentation.

You'll need to plan on coming 15 minutes before the meeting. Speakers provide their own laptops (if necessary, we can arrange to have a laptop provided) to drive PowerPoint presentations. SPIN will provide a projector and microphone (we ask all speakers to use a microphone to ensure people in the back can hear).

SPIN will print slide handouts. The speaker needs to email presentation slides in PowerPoint format to the SPIN board two weeks in advance.

Typical Agenda:

  • 6:00 - 7:00 Networking with FREE food and soft drinks
  • 7:00 - 7:15 Welcome, Introductions, SPIN Business
  • 7:15 - 8:15 Presentation
  • 8:15 - 8:25 Job Announcements (Bring job openings)
  • 8:25 - 8:30 Book give away

The SPIN board is dedicated to organizing the best possible meetings so if you have any questions or suggestions we are here to help.
