August 2016 General Meeting

How Does Lean Process Improvement Fit in the Agile Movement

Wednesday August 17th at 6PM

Featuring Rob Phillips

(location details provided below Eventbrite link)

About This Presentation:

For many years, organizations have formalized efforts to apply process efficiency initiatives such as Lean 6-Sigma as cost-take out models. Today, the traditional manufacturing based roots of Lean can make proper translation to the evolving software industry with the "Internet of Things" even more essential. However, an Agile software development "mindset" which values People at the core can be seen as a contradiction or complement to the Lean efforts, depending on the environment. In this talk, Rob will share his experiences working WITH a Lean 6-Sigma organization while leading Agile efforts INSIDE the Software Engineering portfolio. He'll interactively discuss the commonalities & distinctions. Its an important topic where organizations who have invested in Lean 6-Sigma must understand and balance the relationship.
