“Six Sigma – A Process Improvement Methodology” – Fred Haigh, Black Belt
This presentation is a condensed version of an executive overview of Six Sigma as a methodology for Process Improvement.

It begins by defining Six Sigma and identifying the all-important role of the customer in driving successful Six Sigma Projects. A brief history of the methodology is presented and some terms are defined. The organizational structure necessary for Six Sigma to be successful is discussed. The presentation then covers the role of variation in process stability. The DMAIC process steps are outlined and the supporting tools of Six Sigma are listed and discussed. The difference between traditional quality and Six Sigma quality are explored together with the Cost of Poor Quality as it relates to businesses today. Several success stories regarding the benefits of Six Sigma are included including a project that the author actually ran.

Finally, the interplay between Six Sigma and CMMI levels 4 & 5 is discussed. This leads into the question and answer period where additional questions are expected regarding the relationship between Six Sigma and CMM.
