AutoTrader.com – Bringing Quality Assurance Processes Together with the Practice

Learn about the initiatives that have been implemented at AutoTrader.com that support people, process, and project improvements. These processes stem from the Quality Assurance practice and resonate throughout AutoTrader.com.

Bio:

Kevin Smith is a University of South Carolina graduate with a BS in Management Information Systems and has over 15 years of IT experience. He began his career in Greenville, SC as an MCSE and MCT. He implemented and trained Microsoft Solutions to notable clients, such as, Bausch and Lomb, Toshiba, and BMW.

In 1998, Kevin accepted a position with XcelleNet (now Sybase), in Atlanta. He was on the Professional Services Team, where he was responsible for training, proof of concept implementations, and pre-sales consulting. He traveled all over the US and part of Europe providing these services to large companies.

While working at Xcellenet, Kevin discovered his love for developing and implementing processes to provide repeatability and predictability. This passion led him to a career in Quality Assurance.  Kevin began leading several QA efforts across multiple applications and multiple client types, while enforcing newly created QA processes.

Kevin is currently the Senior QA Manger at AutoTrader.com, where he supports a team of 4 managers and 21 Quality Assurance Analysts. The team focuses on people, process, and projects. Kevin and his team are responsible for performing quality assurance duties throughout the project lifecycle. They also demonstrate an expertise in QA methodologies, which include test planning, test tools, test execution, and requirements analysis and testing, and release management.  The team currently supports processes within numerous applications at AutoTrader.com, such as the Consumer Site, Private Seller, Dealer Site, KBB, Classics, and Latino.

Park in center section (not visitor section) of parking deck on your left as you enter 7000 Central Parkway. Take the parking deck elevator to floor 3 (lobby level) and follow the signs.
