Abstract:
Anyone who practices Process Improvement for a living has probably seen at least
on "effort gone bad." Our panel will relate some short stories of their Horror
Stories, along with practical takeaways for the audience.

Bios:
Angela Gschwind is a Quality and Process Improvement Manager for CGI, a $3B software and
outsourcing company founded in the 1970s. She is responsible for quality and metric programs
across various projects within the Communications and Banking and Investments Sectors. She has
helped facilitate audits and improvement efforts throughout the organization using ISO, CMMI,
and several other best practice models. She has over 15 years of experience in the information
technology industry both domestically and abroad. She is certified in Lean and has a Six Sigma
Green Belt. Her degrees include Computer Science and an MBA.
Fred Haigh is a Process Improvement Architect and Engineer with over 30
years of experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. He has operated
in all the major software development roles. He has working experience in quality
management, software development, network infrastructure implementation and management,
and IT business process management. He has industry experience in the process control
systems manufacturing, nuclear power systems, healthcare telecommunications, retail,
and web technology industries. Mr. Haigh has worked with a variety of quality models
and tools including CMMI, ITIL, Six Sigma, ISO9000, and others. He is an SEI Authorized
Instructor for Introduction to CMMI V 1.2, holds an ITIL Foundation certification,
is a trained ISO Process Auditor, and is a Six Sigma Black Belt. Mr. Haigh holds
an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh as well as a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Michael Nearman is a Principal at AGSI, a leading consultancy in helping organizations
close the performance gap between their goals and their daily process execution.
Mike has over three decades of experience in delivering high risk and complex business
automation solutions and shrink-wrapped software products. He has lead software
development and engineering at such companies as United Airlines, CSX Technology,
Peachtree Software, Knowledgeware and Openware Technologies. In these roles and
in more than a decade of consulting, he has performed IT process improvement programs
at all maturity levels using state-of-the-art models and best practices. He works
with executives, managers and practitioners enabling them to increase both the quality
and the predictability of their work while aligning it with true business need.
